Is Alex Broskow going to skate for Them? That was one of my questions to Jon Julio. A few days after the
death of Valo, Jon Julio announced his new venture, a 100% skater owner aggressive inline skating brand, THEM skates.
Until here it all seems perfect, but to start a skate brand with a low budget it’s not as simple as most of the skaters might think. In this podcast, Jon and I talked about the adversities and the plans for the FUTURE of his new brand. - Ricardo Lino.
Rollerblading has a pretty forward-thinking history when it comes to gender within our community. Women have long held roles as leading pioneers in blading, from Angie Walton launching Daily Bread Magazine to Fabiola Da Silva smashing gender barriers to compete directly against men on the competition circuit.
And even during the stark lack of media exposure for blading, occasionally groups of women would be gathered for speciality events that might even get some airtime on major networks. So no matter whether you’ve ever thought about it or not, blading has been ahead of contemporary culture in this regard. That’s cool! And keeping that legacy alive is Coco Sanchez, a talented female roller that models, does demoes and shows for All Wheels Sports, and shreds hard at every event she enters.
Back in 2015 Jeff Linett produced these images and they served as the foundation for a long-overdue interview in ONE Digi v.5. — and we’re proud to re-present the full interview here for anyone that may have missed it before. Enjoy!

In this episode of Planet Roller Skate (Youtube), we travel to Delano, California to meet 76 year old great-grandpa and aggressive park skater, Frank Hernandez, the Godfather. He didn’t start skating until after he retired at 60, and now his skills are stronger than ever before.
If you plan to give wheels a try, first be sure you can stand up from sitting on the ground, squat low, take small steps, and wear your gear to stay safe. We hope his story inspires you to get moving and challenges common thoughts about athleticism as we age. If you’re asking the question “am I too old,” well, here’s your answer :)

Your style was always beyond time. You included your own comment and opinion to inline skate. How the Latimer’s style was formed? In generally, how would you define your style?
When I started there were only frontsides, so that’s all we did. Then I saw a soul grind, so that’s all that was done. We perfected our ideal image of each trick, rather than spreading ourselves thin trying everything in the book. Before even tricks we were skating backwards around cones, being comfortable in any direction. There was no book then. When it all progressed I looked up to the likes of Chris Edwards, Arlo, TJ Webber, Earnie Villarino, ETc for the elements I liked and tried to mimic. Of course over time I just let all those elements marinate into what I was, and so I became. […]
